Senate Majority Leader Randy Richardville on Sunday was conferred with an honorary doctorate degree from Eastern Michigan University.
“This is such a tremendous honor,” said Richardville, “I have worked with Eastern over the course of the past several years to serve the families of Southeast Michigan. Eastern is more than just an institution of higher learning, the university has partnered with organizations and causes throughout the state to improve the lives of our citizens and to improve our communities.”
As EMU is the alma mater to many in the 17th Senate district, Richardville has had a long standing relationship with the university. He has been a partner with the Eastern Michigan University Autism Collaborative Center and assisted EMU in securing state grants for the operation of the center.
Richardville was a bill sponsor for one of the bills in the Autism Package and champion for insurance coverage for families facing the challenges of autism.
The Autism Collaborative Center, which is non-profit, offers a team of professionals and highly trained students from various departments, and has services ranging from music therapy and occupational therapy to speech therapy and dietetics.
